There is one outstanding cheque to Warren Wong for $50 speaker April 2019. Perhaps Greg can check back if he wants a new one; it will now be stale dated.
Membership / Bonsor Liaison Syl – No report
Secretary: Betty- No report
Guest speaker / Advertising Coordinator: Christmas party notes- see below.
We discussed the next meeting in February and possible speakers. The President of the Shade club might be an option, or someone to talk about indoor plants and care (Mandeville possibly). Daphne recommended him at our last meeting. February would normally still Be Greg with a switch over to Carolee in March
Newsletter: Vince
Nov. 20 deadline. He needs a write up for Xmas party with all the details
ACTION- Greg to do a full write up for newsletter.
Elections – needs write up with all the new folks. Len was going to ask Joanne if she would continue in the kitchen.
ACTION- Lucette will connect with Len and do a write up for newsletter. She has email from Rose.
ACTION- Lucette will include Brian Minter recipes for soil, and BCCGC meeting info (Dan provided his notes from the meeting)
Martine sent a recipe
Sunshine: Judy/Rose – No report
Old Business
Christmas (from Greg who held committee meeting)
For the November bulletin Vince please mention food bank donations. I will collect again this year.
Dan offered to bring boxes-let him know if you need them.
1) I spoke with Dave the caterer today. Questions I asked him were mainly about liquor license which he said is all good!
He will have helpers to pick up our plates since that didn’t happen last year.
I mentioned he is able to be in room as early as 5pm.
He said we will be speaking in next couple of weeks so hopefully we will have a head count for him. Then we will be able to figure out a floor plan for Bonsor or do we just go with 8 tables of 8 in case extra people show up?
8 tables of 8 sounds good since we’re at 54 now, but for caterer the actual number. – extra cranberry sauce.
**Elizabeth made phone calls to members and the number was up to 54 st our exec meeting. Joanne and Gene will come, Virginia and Bob too. Judy and Paul hadn’t decided yet because of the driving.
2) Joanne has about 50 prizes and I have a few more as well so I’m sure we will have enough for everyone! We lucked out this year with Joanne’s neighbour! Maybe we could revisit next year, does everyone need a gift? Just a thought.
**We never had gifts for everyone in the past. Last year was the first year so no need in future. But it was nice last year.
3) I will send email to Lorna re: punch.
4) Does everyone know they can bring liquor or should that be in the next newsletter?
ACTION_ Yes, please do a write up with all the details;
- Start time
- Xmas outfit contest if that’s happening
- Place setting decoration if you’ve decided to go with that
- Bring own glasses
- Donations to food back
- 50/50 draw and jelly bean together if still doing that
Nothing else at the moment unless anyone can think of anything I’ve missed.
Question for Syl, Betty: – We think the Dec. meeting is when we give out a trophy? for most points in show bench for 2019 and also any anniversary pins- 15 yrs or more.
That would be chair’s role, but rest of dinner would be the Christmas committee’s role. Greg you and Elizabeth can work that out once we confirm the above.
Lucette will have a game and stuff on tables for folks to do (not sure what yet).
Adjourned at 7:50.
Next meeting January 14 at Dan’s house, Lucette offered to chair Feb. 4, 2020 meeting, but we can confirm at January exec meeting. She has often chaired March AGM.
