2019 Annual General Meeting

Meeting called to order by Lucette Wesley at 7:31 pm

Welcome to everyone. Thank you to Judy Vander and all who assisted with the Christmas Party. It was awesome. Thank you to all the volunteers tonight, Carole at the raffle, Joanne and Greg for refreshments. Lorna, Betty and Dan with bench. Syl and Elizabeth doing membership.

AGM called to order at 7:34 pm.

Motion to accept the minutes of the 2018 AGM. Moved by Len Gross, seconded by Syl Davis. Passed.

Rotating Chair Report: Lucette Wesley

Introduction of our new steering members. Carolee Boivin, Greg Templeton and VinceWesley are new members of the committee. Thank you to everyone who helped out last year, and were recognized in November.

In order to ensure continuity in operation of the club (given there is no elected President or Vice-President) we put forward a resolution that:

For the period beginning February 1, 2019 and ending January 31, 2020, the executive committee members will rotate the role of chairperson and organize monthly club meetings and club business according to the changes voted on at today’s AGM meeting. Moved by Len Gross, seconded by Judy Kearley, all in favour, passed.

Financial Report: Elizabeth Beer

Budget reviewed for 2019 (attached). Reviewed in detail, Christmas party is a cost, and we may need to consider increasing the cost of the Christmas party. The auditor cost has increased. Internet was paid for 2 years in advance.

There was a one time society cost. We will consider changing the raffle to 50/50.

Motion to accept 2018 years financials as presented, moved by Syl Davis, seconded by Rose Templeton. Passed.

Motion to increase speakers funding to a maximum $600 for the year moved by Lorna Herchenson, seconded by Vince Wesley. Passed.

Motion to have 2018 South Burnaby Garden Club books audited by our usual auditor, at a predicted cost of $280.00. moved by Judy Kearley, seconded by Greg Templeton. Passed.

Motion to pass the 2019 budget, Moved Martine Arnold, seconded by Len Gross. Passed.

Thank you to the steering committee offered by Len Gross for keeping the budget in line.

The 2019 Annual General Meeting was adjourned.
