Executive Meeting – June 20, 2023

Treasurer Report: Elizabeth

Treasurers report circulated by email. A copy will go in the ‘red’ book. Anticipating a subsidy of about $1000 for the Christmas Party but may depend on the number the tickets that are sold. $650 Deposit has been sent to the caterers.

Fall Harvest Fair: Lucette and Dan

Report from Lucette via email:

  • schedule is now on the website
  • we still need volunteers and we’ll have the sign up sheet at the meeting. I’ll ask for specific jobs to be filled.
  • new trophy will be ordered for Crafts (Irene’s funds as voted at the June meeting)
  • I’ll have info to Dina for donations next week.
  • I’ll bring more bookmarks to next meeting
  • Still no word from the mayor’s office, I will follow up
  • Jennifer has all judges confirmed and the photo judge Ron Long will take photos of the exhibits since Charly won’t be there. Lily wasn’t comfortable doing it with her eyesight since cataract surgery
  • I have a trophy dropped off at May meeting- are we bringing to June meeting? No, they are asked for at the August meeting, Lucette will bring the trophy to the next meeting for Betty to pick up.
  • Charmaine and Martine will decorate the Bonsor window before Martine leaves on holidays
  • Martine will leave her tablecloths

Additional comments from Dan:

Someone will need to donate a kitchen scale. Still some things needed from Dan’s. Lucette and Dan will discuss what needs to come from his house. Dan has not contacted Conway yet.

Membership & Bonsor Liaison: Syl, Dina 

One more joined at the last meeting. Syl has sent an email off to Bonsor to reminder about fall fair contract.

Newsletter: Vince

Deadline is June 21 , 2023.

Speakers, Environment – Maria

July – ANDRE ERASMUS- on floral arranging, we will decide about floral supply depending on weather etc. We will have the speaker supply flowers as neither Betty nor Maria have enough in bloom.

August – member q and a in the round. Dina will moderate.

Garden tour Dina July 23rd

Dina and Phil’s tour will be from 1 to 4 pm, and Betty has sent to Vince for the newsletter. Address will be emailed out prior to the date

Picnic Martine and Charly – times menu etc

July 29th noon to 4 pm. Betty will put a note in the newsletter

National Garden Day – Lily,

Thanks to Lily, Betty will do a short article and a few pictures for the newsletter

Christmas Party

Deposit has been made, no further information. Betty to check with Martine, Carolee about ticket prices.

New Business:

Garden Tours

Charly and Martine June 22nd 3 to 5 pm.

Betty and Frank  August 19th  11 to 3, Frank will grill up some hotdogs at about noon.

Ron Templeton

The club will be assisting in the kitchen at Bonsor for Ron’s celebration of life on July 11 from 1 to 4. Carol and Judy have committed, Betty will ask for volunteers Sofia and Betty will help, food coming from Costco.

Betty to ask membership about restlessness, reinforce ability to move around during the meeting.
