South Burnaby Garden Club Executive Virtual Meeting via Zoom

Called to order at 7:10 by Dina
Treasurer Report: Elizabeth
Circulated by email, and copy will go in the ‘red’ book. Total expenses have a 9 cents discrepancy.
Secretary: Betty
Betty will assign exhibitor numbers to new members.
Membership: Syl
Historical record number of current members, last time this high was 2018. $920 collecting in memberships so far. Syl circulated an updated membership list.
Bonsor Liaison: Dina
Payments to and contracts with Bonsor completed. Confirmation received for fall fair set up configuration as last year. Display case is reserved August 26 to Sept 9. Read o graphs reserved August 25 to Sept 8. Dina will find out deadline and max number of characters that can be used.
Newsletter: Vince
Deadline is July 24, 2024. Vince leaving on the 29th, so will be working on it immediately after the deadline and will send it out prior to going away.
Speaker, Environment – Maria
August – Jason Croutch from Fraser Valley Rose Farm in Deroche. The topic will be Garden Myths. He will bring plants, mostly perennials for sale. Maria asks that we keep the business meeting to 30 minutes, ending at 8 as there might be a lot of questions for Jason.

Fall Harvest Fair: Lucette
Fees for food and beverages at the fall fair will remain unchanged. Lucette will ask for volunteers at the meeting. She has the volunteer signup sheets. Syl will be MC, Vince is the photography judge. Need a volunteer to go and get the lunch. Elizabeth will do the records. 13 Raffle books only left. Dina will send out prize requests in early August and do pickup.

Garden Tours
Thank you to Phil and Dina for opening their beautiful garden. Vince took lots of pictures and we will have an article in the newsletter. The cookies were wonderful and Dina will send the recipes to Vince for the newsletter.
New Business:
November meeting
Dina will give a reminder about pictures for the November garden tour going to Lucette
Kitchen helper for the August meeting
Dina can do the kitchen but not coffee. Lucette will bring ice. We start at 7. Iced tea, crystals are in cupboard, Lucette will bring ice. No coffee at the August meeting. We will have the kettle out if someone wants to make instant or tea. Samantha needs her own key, Elizabeth will pass her key on.
Garden Tours
Tish Oliver Sunday August 11 12:30 – 3:00. Dina will do a reminder at the meeting and a reminder about the parking.
Pot Luck
Sofia will be away. Dina will request volunteers at the meeting.
BC Council of Garden Clubs
Fall meeting is October 26th. Sofia and Martine to go. Elizabeth will register.

Executive meeting will be chaired in August 20th chaired by Lucette. No general meeting in September as we have the fall fair. Next meeting will be chaired by on Sofia September 17th
