Summer picnic

Christmas Party

Lucette got the complete menu from Casalinga and reviewed. Full service for Christmas for approximate 45 people would be $2391. Lucette reviewed subsidies in previous years. Dina, Carolee and Charly to help. The committee should consider if entertainment is can be entertainment.

Celebration of Life for Ron Templeton

July 11at Bonsor, Greg has asked if some members would like to volunteer to help with refreshments.

Burnaby Blooms

Lucette and Syl will be presenting under a 20×20 tent located in the Century Gardens area on May 13. Mid afternoon times to be confirmed.

Gardening 101 (Or Gardening for Beginners): Getting started- basics (soil, water, fertilizer), choosing the right plant for the location (sun/shade/wind), easy to grow beginner plants and veggies PLUS a bit of condensed info about places to shop in Burnaby, conclude with an overview of the South Burnaby Garden Club (and the purpose and value of garden clubs in general)

Maintaining a Healthy & Vibrant Garden: Fertilizing organically, watering and meeting sunshine needs, dealing with pests, intermediate/advanced plants & veggie suggestions, conclude with an overview of the South Burnaby Garden Club (and the purpose and value of garden clubs in general)

These will be free drop-in workshops. I think they will be popular, especially if you help to spread the word.

I have not had time to source any donated materials, but I can offer some ‘prizes’ to people attending that are gardener/gardening related that could help generate interest & participation. We could have a draw box on site. We have a bit of swag I need to clear out this year.

Meeting adjourned by zoom at  7:40 pm.
