 our June meeting. \nThe Bees of your Backyard\n\nHave you ever paused to 
 consider how much we owe to pollinators?  About one out of every three bi
 tes we eat\, not to mention the reproduction of native and ornamental plan
 ts!  The pollination workhorses are the almost 500 species of native bees
  in BC.  There is also an incredible diversity of flower-visiting flies\
 , not to mention the flashier flower visitors like butterflies and humming
 birds.  This presentation is a fun introduction to the diversity and natu
 ral history of bees and other pollinators\, full of photos of what you mig
 ht see visiting flowers in your own backyard.\n\nElizabeth Elle is a Prof
 essor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University.
  Elizabeth and her students have been studying pollinators and pollinati
 on in farms\, natural areas\, habitat restorations\, and gardens of BC for
  close over 25 years\, including as part of national and international col
 laborations. She is also an avid gardener\, and increasingly is connectin
 g her hobby and her science to support the public in pollinator-friendly g
